Award recipients - People and organisations who have 'made a difference' and young people who are role models for other young people - all those nominated receive their Award Certificates in the mail during Children's Week.
A representative group of Award Recipients are selected to receive their Awards at the Children's Week Launch Ceremony on the UN's Universal Children's Day - celebrated in Australia on the fourth Wednesday in October.

The presentation of Awards allows the ACT Children's Week Committee to give public recognition to individuals or groups for outstanding contributions to the needs, welfare and interests of children, either in a voluntary or in a paid capacity. We are looking for people in the community who 'make a difference', not forgetting the 'quiet achievers'. We also seek nominations for young people who make a difference and are role models for others.

OUTSTANDING COURAGE AWARD
for a person under the age of 21 years for having overcome extreme adversity and shown great bravery and generosity.

ENDEAVOUR AWARD
for a person under the age of 21 years who makes extraordinary contributions to other children. This may include voluntary work, advocacy or being a good role model for other children and young people.

YOUTH COMMITMENT AWARD
for groups of young people who see a need in their community and work together to create a solution. (Open to schools, youth groups, formal and informal groups)

COMMUNITY FOR CHILDREN AWARD
for individuals, groups, volunteers, media, organisations who have made an outstanding contribution to children/young people in the community.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT AWARD
for individuals, groups, organisations who have made extraordinary contributions to children/young people significantly improving their opportunities to learn and grow.

SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION AWARD
for businesses and organisations who have made a significant difference for children/young people.
