It is a celebration of life on earth and of the value of biodiversity for our lives. The world is invited to take action in 2010 to safeguard the variety of life on earth: biodiversity.
Year of the Girl Guide 2010
The Australian Government has officially announced that 2010 will be designated Year of the Girl Guide in support of the Guides' centenary celebrations. For 100 years the Guiding movement has supported Australian girls to grow into confident and inspiring young women. Over
one million Australian women have been or are still Guides. The motto for the centenary year is 'Let's celebrate our past, live the present and power into the future'.
International Year of Youth: Dialogue and Mutual Understanding
The UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY Proclaimed 2010 INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF YOUTH, TO ENCOURAGE DIALOGUE, UNDERSTANDING ACROSS GENERATIONS.
In efforts to highlight their contribution to society and help address the challenges they face, the United Nations is dedicating a year to young people by proclaiming 2010 the International Year of Youth, commencing on 12 August 2010.Under the theme “Dialogue and Mutual Understanding”, the Year will aim at encouraging dialogue and understanding across generations. It will promote the ideals of peace, respect for human rights and freedoms, as well as solidarity.
